USPF hands over Emerging Tech Centre to Ogun State Institute of Technology

The Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has officially handed over the Emerging Technologies Centre (ETC) to the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH) in Igbesa, Ogun State.¹

The ETC, equipped with 100 desktop computers, emerging technology applications, bandwidth, and connectivity tools, aims to enhance the learning experience of students and provide a platform for digital innovation, research, and development. This project is a significant milestone in bridging the digital divide and promoting digital inclusion across Nigeria.

USPF Secretary, Yomi Arowosafe, emphasized that the Centre represents a vision, commitment, and investment in the future of Ogun State and Nigeria. He highlighted the USPF’s mandate to provide ICT access to unserved and underserved communities across the country.

The handover ceremony also included the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between OGITECH and the USPF, ensuring the effective utilization and sustainability of the ICT project.

The Rector of OGITECH, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, applauded the NCC and USPF team, promising to utilize the project effectively and ensure its sustainability. The ETC is expected to have a significant impact on the institution and wider community, providing opportunities for students to develop skills in emerging technologies and enabling faculty members to integrate technology into their teaching and research.
