NASENI Research Director, Olasunle Conferred with FNMGS Fellowship

Dr. Samuel Olugbenga O. Olusunle, Research Director of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), has been conferred with the prestigious Fellow of Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (FNMGS). This honor comes as the society celebrates 64 years of existence.¹

The FNMGS, one of Nigeria’s oldest professional bodies, recognized Olusunle’s contributions to the growth and development of the mining and geosciences profession. He was among 43 members honored with the Fellow category, the highest achievable in the society.²

The Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) has a rich history, dating back to 1961. Its objectives include advancing mining, earth sciences, and metallurgy, as well as promoting knowledge dissemination and ethical standards.

Olusunle expressed his gratitude, stating that the recognition highlights the connection between NASENI’s mandate and NMGS’s core concerns. He noted that NASENI’s involvement in solid minerals exploitation and the CNG project demonstrates collaborative opportunities between the agency and NMGS.

Olusunle’s achievement adds to his impressive credentials, having served as Managing Director of the Engineering Materials Development Institute (EMDI) Akure, and being a fellow of several professional organizations, including the Nigeria Institute of Mechanical Engineers and the Nigerian Metallurgical Society.
